Exodus-1947

On September 7th 2017 a 70th ceremonial meeting was held commemorating the journey of the Exodus 1947 Ma'apilim ship. On the day prior to the conference, my husband Zvi and I took part in a panel discussion held at the Haifa Ha'haapala Jewish Immigration Museum along with a Christian British group called: Repearing the Breach, a group dedicated to expressing remorse in light of Britains actions towards war torn survivors recovering from the atrocities they have endured in concentration camps and DPC's (Displaced Persons Camps). We were invited to tell the story of our families whereabouts during the holocaust.

Our discussion group included the widow of former British immigration minister, evangelical chrisitian nun sister Glory and many others. The group membes were very moved by our story and have expressed their sincere regret. From time to time these group members visit Israel and are the Jewish story's ambassadros worldwide. The founding member of the group is Rosie Ross and she has made Israel her home.

Another member of the group I am happy to have met is Ret. Colonel Richard Kemp, Former commander of the British Forces in Afganistan. His words in the meeting were very heartfelt, expressing the shame he feels in light of his country's attitude towards peoples undergoing immense suffering.

His image  is from a speech he gave at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem.
